Job Summary

The Fire Protection Systems Manager is responsible for overseeing Aoka’s fire protection service delivery across federal, state, and municipal contracts. This includes managing subcontractors, coordinating inspections and repairs, ensuring NFPA code compliance, supporting project execution, and contributing to quality assurance on fire alarm, sprinkler, and suppression systems. The Manager will also support compliance with federal acquisition regulations (e.g., FAR 52.219-14), and serve as the operational lead on all fire-related scopes.

Qualifications

  • NICET Level II or higher in a fire protection discipline preferred; or equivalent supervisory experience over NICET-certified subs.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection systems inspection, repair, or construction. 
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 25, 20, 72, and NEC (NFPA 70).
  • Prior experience managing fire system projects under public sector or federal contracts.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specs, and PWS/SOW documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; capable of producing clear field documentation and reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple scopes simultaneously across projects.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition rules (especially FAR 52.219-14) is a strong plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage fire protection scopes across multiple projects, including inspection, testing, repair, and construction of fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and pump systems.
  • Serve as Aoka’s on-site or remote project lead for fire system work, especially for federal clients such as the DOD, VA, or GSA.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors; confirm NICET certification or equivalent credentials, and ensure scope compliance.
  • Interpret scopes of work (SOW), performance work statements (PWS), and applicable NFPA standards; ensure execution aligns with contract and code.
  • Perform quality control activities including documentation, field photos, trip reports, and system verification logs.
  • Contribute to internal pricing reviews by validating subcontractor labor and material quotes for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Ensure Aoka’s labor self-performance meets SBA and FAR requirements, including FAR 52.219-14 compliance for small business set-asides.
  • Act as point of contact for project coordination with government officials, field technicians, and subcontractor leads.
  • Develop or contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and QA/QC checklists for fire protection scopes.
  • Monitor ongoing code changes and maintain current knowledge of NFPA 10, 13, 20, 25, 70 (NEC), and 72.
  • Reporting to VP of Operations in the company about new incidents related to work progress.


Performance Indicators:
  • On-time, in-scope completion of fire protection projects with documented quality control
  • Compliance with self-performance labor thresholds on all federal contracts.
  • Field documentation completed accurately and submitted within required timelines.
  • Effective coordination of subcontractors with minimal rework or delays.
  • Proactive problem-solving and adherence to safety and compliance standards.

Salary: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year based on experience and qualifications.

Education
