Job Summary

Aoka is an ICC preferred education provider. We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Code Enforcement Officer to join our team (part time). The part-time role will be responsible for reviewing construction projects and ensuring compliance with relevant building codes within the Houston area. This role will focus on inspecting construction sites, reviewing plans, and collaborating with local municipalities to make sure that all projects follow safety and regulatory guidelines. This is a part-time position offering flexible hours, perfect for professionals with experience in building code enforcement.

Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas (Remote)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building code enforcement or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of local building codes, zoning laws, and construction regulations specific to the Houston area.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify code violations and safety concerns.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and interaction with clients, government agencies, and construction teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a flexible, part-time role.
  • TDLR Certification in Code Enforcement is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Code Enforcement: Conduct inspections of construction sites to ensure compliance with local building codes and regulations.
  • Regulatory Guidance: Advise clients, including cities and counties, on building code requirements and help them navigate the regulatory processes to ensure successful project completion.
  • Collaboration with Municipalities: Work directly with local government agencies to confirm that construction activities are aligned with city and county codes, and assist in resolving any code violations that arise.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed reports of inspections, violations, and resolutions. Ensure that all findings are documented accurately and communicated to the appropriate parties.
  • Project Review: Review construction plans and permits to ensure that they meet code requirements before projects commence.
  • Stay Up to Date: Keep abreast of changes in building codes, zoning laws, and local regulations to ensure compliance with the most current standards.



Compensation:

  • $30-$50 based on experience and qualifications

Education

  •  High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building code enforcement or a related field.
