Job Summary

         Aoka Engineering is a third party building department service and software provider that works to assist local jurisdictions. We are looking to hire a building construction inspector that can perform a variety of inspections in the structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (and miscellaneous) disciplines in accordance with relevant codes. 

Location

Corpus Christi, TX (remote)

Qualifications

  •  High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate; some college or associate's degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of experience working as a building inspector previously 
  • Updated relevant ICC certifications. Combination Inspector certificates including those of building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing; Miscellaneous certificates such as accessibility, fire or others preferred 
  • (TSBPE plumbing inspector license needed )- Only for Texas 
  • Knowledge of inspection reporting software preferred; open to learn new relevant software
  • Thorough knowledge of construction and inspection practices, standards, procedures and applicable building and safety codes
  • In-depth understanding of reading construction plans and specifications and able to compare them with construction in progress effectively
  • Effective understanding and communication skills; verbal and written 
  • Able to keep records in an organized and legible manner
  • Communicate effectively with local jurisdictions, contractors, engineers, other inspectors and any other relevant personal as needed 
  • Able to easily and timely coordinate with relevant departments, local jurisdictions and contractors.


 

Responsibilities

  • Inspect projects under construction to assure contractor’s compliance to relevant plans, specifications and applicable safety regulations. Report any discrepancies and potential problem areas.
  • Develop and keep a working knowledge of relevant codes, regulations, company procedures and other information required to complete the work in a correct and timely manner
  • Review plans and specifications of projects that are assigned 
  • Attend pre-project conferences and/or informational meetings with local jurisdictions and/or contractors as needed
  • Communicate effectively with the point of contact for the contractors and local jurisdiction, coordinate with them as needed and report relevant information to the company
  • Provide excellent customer service by listening to the needs and concerns (if any) of client local jurisdictions and contractors and finding ways to solve them 
  • Collect and tally materials used or delivered during construction
  • Prepare needed inspection reports after careful observation of work performed during the progress and completion of the project 
  • Schedule needed inspections including the final inspection to provide recommendation for acceptance of projects 
  • Attend company meetings and training as needed and required 
  • May need to provide supervision to lower level personnel.

 
Compensation and Benefits:
 
  • $60,000 - $90,000 Yearly Salary Depending on Qualifications

Work Location: Remote but the candidate needs to be in Corpus Christi, TX or in 50 miles radius of  Corpus Christi. 

 

Education
